1. What is NuShield?
NuShield is a protective patch derived from the amniotic membrane.
2. What are clinical applications?
NuShield can be used as a protective barrier for injured tendons and nerves. The patch serves as an interface between tendons and surrounding tissues and aid in the healing process.
3. How does NuShield work?
Through unique graft characteristics:
Natural biologic barrier and containing types IV, V, and VII collagen
- Non-immunogenic
- Promotes increased healing
- Protective encasement for injured tissue
- May inhibit fibrosis
4. NuShield FDA status?
NuShield is regulated by the FDA as a 361 tissue product (HCT/P).
5. How is NuShield sterilized?
NuShield is terminally sterilized with the Purion Process and E beam radiation.
6. How is NuShield stored?
NuShield is stored at room temperature and has a five year shelf life. NuShield is a dehydrated graft.
7. Is amnion safe?
Over 30,000 implanted without report of any adverse event related to the graft.
8. How is NuShield applied?
NuShield can be cut to size while dry out of the package and applied directly to the target tissue with the embossment reading SB from left to right on applied tissue.
